School of Physical Education in Hubei University was established in October 1999 with 86 staff and 76 full-time teachers, of whom 16 professors, 34  associate professor, 6 Doctoral tutor and 30 Master tutors.

School has 4 undergraduate majors including Physical education, Social Physical Education , Athletic Science and Leisure Sport. There are 833 undergraduates. The employment rate of undergraduates has been maintained in more than 90% while the study abroad rate has reached 20% and the independent entrepreneurial rate has been more than 5%. There are 140 masters in the school and the employment rate of masters has remained above 95%.

In the past five years, the school has been awarded 7 items of national Philosophy and Social Science Fund Projects, and 2 National Natural Science Foundation Projects. There are more than 100 passages have been published in sports core journals and school has won a number of provincial and ministerial teaching research awards.

The school has soccer, basketball, volleyball, tennis, bowling, dragon and lion dancing, athletics, martial arts, rock climbing, cheerleading and other sports teams. The five-person football team has won the championship of National University Student Five-person Football League for 7 times.

The uinversity library has rich books and materials supporting the subject. The sports professional collection area is about 1300㎡ with 204.08 million Chinese and foreign collections, 68 Chinese periodicals and 19 foreign periodicals.
